What is Essential 8 compliance?

The Essential 8 is the Australian Cyber Security Centre's framework of eight mitigation strategies to protect organisations against cyber threats. ACS aligns all client environments to Essential 8 maturity models.

Do you provide IT support outside Sydney?

Do I need a protection bundle with the firewall?

In practice yes. An XGS without a subscription routes and does basic stateful filtering, but TLS inspection, sandboxing, web and app control and the ZTNA gateway are all subscription features. Xstream Protection is the full set; Standard is the lighter tier. We quote the appliance and the term together so year two is not a surprise.

What size XGS do I actually need?

Size on throughput with TLS inspection switched on, not the headline firewall figure. Inspecting encrypted traffic is where these appliances spend their capacity, and almost all traffic is encrypted now. Tell us your internet speed, user count and whether you terminate site-to-site VPNs, and we will size it properly rather than selling you the next model up.

How is MDR different from just buying Intercept X?

Intercept X is the software; MDR is Sophos’s own analysts watching it around the clock and responding on your behalf. It suits a business with no security staff, because an alert at 2am is only useful if somebody acts on it. Sophos run it themselves rather than reselling another SOC, and it is priced per user.

Can the firewall, switches and Wi-Fi be managed together?

Yes, and it is the main reason to buy the range rather than mixing vendors. Sophos Central covers the XGS, the CS switches, the AP6 access points and the endpoints, so a compromised machine can be isolated at its switch port automatically instead of someone tracing it by hand.

Why do some licences show a smaller saving than other brands?

Sophos publishes a tighter recommended price than most vendors — around 11% above distributor cost, where Cisco and Aruba sit closer to double. The margin between cost and RRP is simply narrower, so the discount we can show against it is smaller. It is not a worse deal, just a more honest list price.

Do you supply government and education pricing?
